Betty JoAnn Burkett Stephens, 92, of Huntsville passed away Tuesday, May 26th. Mrs. Stephens was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, William Frank Stephens and her son, Jeffrey Frank Stephens; parents J.B. and Bessie Burkett;
She was a lifelong member of the East Huntsville Church of Christ where she taught children’s Bible classes for many years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Her home was always open and she loved nothing more than visiting with family and friends. She remembered every birthday and anniversary in her children and grandchildren’s lives, never failing to send a card or make a call. She was a devoted sister, mother, and grandmother and her proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Donna) Stephens; daughter, Beth (Randy) Phillips; five grandchildren: Melissa (Cody) Starnes, Whitney Stephens, Zack (Hannah) Stephens, Matt Phillips, Jake Stephens; and three great grandchildren: Colton, Maylee Anna and Abby; brother, Buddy Burkett, sisters, Brenda (Buddy) Elders, Debbie Howard along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday May 31st, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held the following day, Monday, June 1st, beginning at 11:00 AM in the chapel. Burial will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery.
