Betty Jeanne Eudy Betty Jeanne Eudy peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 86 while residing with her family in her home in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She was previously a long-time resident of Athens, Alabama where she was a member of First Baptist Church working with women mission groups and prison ministry. Betty received her Master’s in Business Education from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and held several college teaching positions before medically retiring in 1985. Before retiring, she received multiple awards for her work in helping young adults prepare for employment which was the basis for her being named in 1968, “Alabama’s Outstanding Young Woman of the Year.” After retiring, she continued to work in prison ministry sharing the gospel to inmates in local jails and state correctional facilities. She also enjoyed playing Bridge and Scramble with her sweet friends, supporting friends with encouragement and prayers, and enjoying life with her family.

Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene Walker Eudy, Sr.; her parents, John Moody and Cora Johnson, Athens, Alabama; and her sister-in-law, Mildred Terrell, Cullman, Alabama.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Susan Jackson and her husband Doug, Bowling Green, KY; her son, Eugene Walker Eudy, Jr., Birmingham, AL, and her son, Dr. Michael Eudy, Honolulu, HI; two sisters-in-laws, Sue Godwin and her husband, Charles, Meridianville, AL; Melba Shadel and her husband, Bill, Huntsville, AL; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several precious friends that were really family.

One of Betty’s favorite verses was “For I know the plans I have for you, declared the LORD, plans for good and not evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11) Her prayer was always that you would also have that hope. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that donations in her memory be made to the Prison Ministry at First Baptist Church, Athens, Alabama.

Visitation for Betty will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home in Athens, AL. There will be a graveside service following the visitation on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Gilliam Springs Cemetery in Arab, AL. with Bro. Joel Carwile officiating.
