Betty Jean Coker, age 83 of Decherd, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, she was born in Decherd on July 2, 1941, to the late Dock and Elizabeth (Bunch) Conn. Before her retirement, she had been employed at BI-LO. When she was able, Betty Jean enjoyed participating in events at the Senior Citizens Center, especially enjoying the Red Hats group and playing Rook. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clint Ray Coker; brother, Bobby Ray Conn; and grandson, Isiah Crockett. Betty Jean is survived by her loving children, Nancy Meyer (Mike Dickson) of Decherd, Norma (Jeff) Piatt of Manchester, Clint Ray (Marie) Coker II of Flintville, and Natalie (Felipe) Vargas of Decherd; grandchildren, Steven Cory Hill, John David Bull, Christopher Piatt, Ryan (Amanda) Piatt, Bobby Devon Tate, Diego Vargas, and Luis Vargas; step-grandchildren, Sarah Perry and Curtis Brooks; great-grandchildren, Takoda Hill, Sierra Hill, Cheyenne Hill, Caroline Piatt, Malachi Baker, and Amara Bull; several great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan Jones and Margie Gipson; sister-in-law, Claudine Conn; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Pastor Jordan Atkisson officiating.
