Betty was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and the Cameo Club. Affectionately known as Maw Maw Betty, she was the epitome of class, beauty, and grace. She showed her love for her family by feeding and caring for them. The perfect example of this was her famous Sunday Dinner. Each Sunday, Maw Maw Betty opened her home to her family, lovingly preparing her best dishes for them, and welcoming them in with open arms. Her family was her first and best love. Her grandchildren and great-grandson brought her so much joy and they all adored her. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Green; father, John W. Mayfield, Sr.; mother, Neta A. Mayfield; brothers, Delmar, Jack, and Jimmy Mayfield; and sisters, Pearline Vincent and Louise Byrd.
Betty is survived by her sons, Rick Green and Steve Green (Teresa); brothers, Jerry Mayfield (Marilyn) and John Mayfield, Jr. (Melissa); sister, Annette Oliver; sisters-in-law, Mary and Ophelia Mayfield; grandchildren, Matthew Green (Marisa), Jordan Green (Mary Fugitt), Derrick Green, and Mitchell Green; great-grandchild, Olen James Green; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Green, Jordan Green, Derrick Green, Mitchell Green, Jerry Mayfield, and John W. Mayfield, Jr.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses with Gentiva Hospice, especially Misty and Tammy; caregivers, Frances, Yterria, Dorothy, Kelly, and Glenda; and all the other caregivers in the past, not only for the care that they provided, but also for their love and kindness shown to Betty.
