Betty Faye Abbou was born November 28, 1945, to Lenard and Opal Burks in Huntsville, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving siblings are Jennette (Charles) Sparkman, George (Beth) Burks, Cathy Carpenter, and Stephen (Mayumi) Burks.
Betty was a beloved mother to Brian Hall, Hattie (Marquin) Russell, and Jennifer (Tony) Ward. She was also blessed with 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren who she adored more than anything.
She lived much of her adult life in Huntsville and is most remembered for her radical love for others and her beautiful smile. She was an avid music lover of all kinds. During her working years, she found joy in early childhood development. She spent several years working at Redstone Arsenal Child Development Center. She retired from Redstone Arsenal, took a brief break, and went back to work in childcare.
For many years Betty organized Huntsville Pow Wow and helped with a number of other cultural festivals. She loved learning about all cultures and ways of life.
On September 7, 2022, Betty lost her battle here on earth, gained a new set of wings, and went on to her eternal resting place.
