Mrs. Betty Dupree of Hazel Green went to be with the Lord on Sunday. She was 87. Mrs. Dupree was a Christian and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Hazel Green. Betty loved everyone and welcomed all into her home with warm southern hospitality. She enjoyed country music and was a passionate NASCAR fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Gilbert Dupree; by her son, James “Bubba” Dupree; by her daughter, Kelly Dupree Ellenburg;; her granddaughter, Lindsey Dupree; her sister, Joyce McDaniel; her brother, Edward Anderson; her parents, Janie and Lonnie Jones and James Anderson.
Surviving family members include her son and daughter-in-law,, Steve & Charlotte Phillips; her sister, Barbara Croy; She is also survived by his nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews including her special niece, Marcia Edwards and her special friend, Ann Moore.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5pm until 7pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11am with Pastor Benny Berry officiating. Burial will follow the service and will be in Concord Cemetery.
