Betty Carolyn Tucker Foster, age 76, of Lincoln, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on August 8, 2026, following a long illness.
Carolyn was born on September 10, 1949, in Oneonta, Alabama, to Plez L. Tucker and Nora Belle Sinn Tucker. She was a 1967 graduate of Oneonta High School and went on to pursue cosmetology, becoming a licensed beautician. While raising her three children, Carolyn owned and operated Carolyn’s Beauty Shop in Altoona, Alabama. She later began a career at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, where she served as a Billing Insurance Supervisor until her retirement.
A Baptist by faith, Carolyn enjoyed the simple things that made life full. She loved playing cards, fishing, ceramics, reading, crocheting, propagating plants, and spending time with her cats. Music was another favorite, and she especially enjoyed listening to Patsy Cline, Conway Twitty, and Toby Keith. Above all, Carolyn treasured time spent with her family and friends.
Carolyn loved her family deeply and took great joy in the generations that followed her. While each held a special place in her heart, she shared an especially precious bond with her great-granddaughter, Norah Bradford.
She is survived by her children, Jonathan J. Foster (Christa), Cynthia F. Bash, and Susanne F. Bradford; grandchildren, Jonathan “Jaye” J. Foster II, Brandt H. Foster, Kyleigh F. James (Anthony), Hannah L. Lagan, Matthew L. Lagan, Michael A. Lagan, Malachi C. Headrick, Jarad A. Bash (Paul), J. Dylan Bradford (Prima), Hayley R. Bradford, and Jackson T. Bradford; great-grandchildren, Norah L. Bradford and Sage I. James; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Phyllis, Sheila, and John.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Plez L. Tucker and Nora Belle Tucker; sisters, Nellie J. Blackwood, Nella M. Tucker, and A. Faye Rice; brother, Eddie A. Tucker; and her lifetime friend, Charlotte Fant.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Andrew Duxbury and Sonya Flanagan, CRNP, of UAB Highlands for their exceptional care; the UAB Highlands Emergency Department; and Dr. Massouleh, who went above and beyond in caring for Carolyn. They are also deeply grateful to Aveanna Hospice in Pell City, especially nurses Kelly and Patti; caregiver Jackie, whose compassionate care brought comfort during a difficult time; and the medical equipment staff for their prompt and professional assistance.
Special gratitude is also extended to Carolyn’s daughter-in-law, Christa, and her grandsons, Michael and Malachi, for the loving and devoted care they provided.
Carolyn leaves behind a family who knew just how deeply they were loved. Her many interests, the music she enjoyed, the plants she nurtured, the friendships she cherished, and especially the family she held so close will remain a lasting part of her memory.
A Celebration of Life will be announced by the family at a later date.
