Betty C. Dardess, age 83, of Sheffield, died Monday, December 1, 2014. Her family will receive friends, Thursday 9:30-10:30 at First Presbyterian Church, Sheffield. Her funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
Mrs. Dardess was a resident of Sheffield for over fifty six years and was a founder of the Shoals String School and Shoals Symphony Orchestra. She was a published composer with numerous compositions for Orchestra and Chorus and served as choir director at First Presbyterian, Sheffield for more than a decade. She was preceded in death by her husband, of fifty-two years, attorney James Dardess.
Survivors include her daughters; Janet Saavedra and husband, Robert, Debbie Handler and husband Len, Elizabeth Dardess; son, John Conway; sister, Joanne Evans; grandchildren, John and Katie Saavedra, Rachael Inciarte, Alex Handler and one great grandchild, Leesan Inciarte.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Sheffield.
