Betty Burch HuntBetty Burch Hunt, lifetime resident of Huntsville, died Sunday at home surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her children, Robert M. “Robin” Hunt (Phyliss), Betty Lee Hunt, and Dena Hunt Robertson (Dave); four grandchildren, Charles P. “Charlie” Hunt (Aya), Becca Hunt-Soulis (Mary Ann), Natalie Robertson Doumar (Jonathan), and Gary L. Robertson (Katherine); four greatgrandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and sisters-in- law, Bertha Bates and Gwynne Hunt.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert M. “Bob” Hunt, parents, Leo S. and Niza Lee Burch, sister, Yvonne “Vonnie” Burch Bates, and brothers-in-law, William R. “Bill” Bates and Albert L. Hunt.

Betty and Bob met and married while working for then NACA at Langley Field, VA, then moved to Huntsville in January 1952. As Betty said, “we came to work for the Von Braun Team”. She enjoyed being an early citizen of the developing Southeast Huntsville during the early 1950’s. She and Bob were founding members of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Southeast Huntsville Civic Association, the Southeast YMCA, The Lily Flagg Pool, and the PTA at newly opened Whitesburg Elementary and Jr. High Schools.

Betty was active in sports, school, and fundraising events involving Robin, Lee and Dena. She was a wonderful organizer, and loved to have birthday parties, family holidays, events and gatherings. Her house had an open door, and she was always there in times of need. Friends and family will remember her endless energy and abilities, her loyalty and love, her love of laughter and smile. Above all, she saw the world through rose colored glasses and shared that optimism. She was always grateful she had lived a charmed and lucky life.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday June 5, 2019 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 607 Airport Dr., 35802, in the sanctuary. The service will follow at 12 noon with the Reverend Mac Buttram officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Music Fund, 607 Airport Rd, Huntsville, AL 35802.
