Betty Ann Freels Hayes, age 76, passed away peacefully at her residence in Whiteville, TN on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Funeral Services for Mrs. Hayes will be conducted on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN with Bro. Lonnie Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Stanton, TN. Visitation for Mrs. Hayes will be Friday, December 11, 2020 from 4:00 PM -6:00 PM at the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN. Betty Ann Freels Hayes was born on May 4, 1944 in Haywood County to John and Annie Freels. She was married to Sammy Joe Hayes for 59 years. She worked for many years at Wells Lamont and Garner Automotive. When she was not working, she loved being a housewife and spent time taking care of her family. She also enjoyed fishing through the years. She is survived by one son, Rickey Joe Hayes of Whiteville, TN; one daughter, Norma (Susie) Lee (Kenny) of Toone, TN; one sister, Martha Jean Faulk (David) of Oakland, TN. She leaves a legacy of three grandchildren, Tanya Kelley (Glen) of Hornsby, TN, Timmy Kelley (Joyce) of Somerville, TN and Jesse Hayes (Jessica) of Whiteville, TN; seven great-grandchildren, Katlin Farris (Mark), McKenzie Nerren and Austin Nerren of Hornsby, TN, Kayleigh, Kendall and Bryson Hayes of Whiteville, TN, and Blayne Kelley of Stanton, TN. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy Joe Hayes; her parents, John and Annie Freels; four sisters, Gracie Buchannon, Willie Sue Jeter, Lucille Johnson and Lillie Bell Goodman and one brother, John D. (Buck) Freels. Pallbearers for the service are Terry Goodman, Tommy Johnson, Gaylon Johnson, Mike Johnson, Mack Henley, Wayne Qualls, Greg Freels, and Mark Johnson. All services and arrangements are under the direction of the Lea & Simmons Funeral Home in Brownsville, TN.
