Betty Sexton McMinnis Betty Alice Sexton McMinnis, age 85, of Joelton, Tennessee, died Monday, May 8, 2023, at St. Thomas West.

Funeral services will be conducted at New Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Joelton at 3:00PM on Friday, May 12, with Bro. Corey Minter and Bro. Tom Malone officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery with Chase Sexton, Will Sexton, Brian Anderson, Phillip Shearon, Michael Shearon, David Dell, and Sonny King serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Sexton and Josh Sexton.

The family will receive friends at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View on Thursday, May 11th, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM and again on Friday at the church from 1:00PM until the hour of service at 3:00PM.

Mrs. McMinnis was born on September 26, 1937, in Cortez, Colorado, to the late Victor & Elsie Chaffin. She was a homemaker and was a member of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church for over 50 years.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Sexton; daughter, Melody Sexton; son, Jim Sexton; and 5 siblings.

Survivors include her husband, George McMinnis; son, Eddie (Stephanie) Sexton; daughter-in-law, Barbara Sexton; brothers, Chan (Jan) Chaffin and Gary (Donna) Chaffin; grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Anderson, Davis Shearon, Will Sexton (fianceꞌ Chloe Sims), Chase Sexton, Hope Sexton; great-grandchildren, Aiden Shearon, Colson and Oakley Anderson, Weston Sexton Bowen; and sister-in-law & dear friend, Jeri Sexton.
