Bettie-Hurst-1443100574Bettie Sue Hathcock Hurst age 67 passed away Thursday morning September 24, 2015 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

She was born October 18, 1947 in Hardin County, the daughter of the late Floyd Thomas Hathcock and Artie Mae Browder Hathcock Alsup. She went to school at Michie and later studied for her GED. She picked cotton as a young lady and worked at Chester Mfg., Salant & Salant Mfg. and Chester County Nursing Home as a CNA.

She was a mother, homemaker and had very strong faith and loved singing gospel songs. She was a member of the Old Path Church.

Mrs. Hurst is survived by her husband, William ‘Bill’ Columbus Hurst and three sons, Danny H. Cupples of Columbia, Donnie Lynn Cupples of Destin, FL and William L. Cupples of Huron; a daughter, Teresa Ann Aljafari of Jackson and four stepsons, Tony Hurst and Johny Hurst both of Woodville, Wiggles Hurst of Bethel Springs and Nathan Hurst of Jacks Creek; nineteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Janice McCarver of Sweetlips, Patricia Ann Walker of Selmer and Rita Faye Barnes of Huron and four brothers, William Hathcock, Harold Wayne Hathcock and Noel Hathcock all of Henderson and Donnie Gene Hicks of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, John David Hathcock.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Ken Kitchen officiating and burial will follow in Middlefork Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday.
