Dr. Ashmore passed away on February 17, 2017 at her residence.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Monday, February 20, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Jeff Chambless will officiate.

She received a masters degree from the University of Alabama and worked for six years in the junior college system in the state of Florida.  She then returned to the University of Alabama and earned a doctorate degree.  Following graduation, she took a position with Peace Corps Brazil/University of Wisconsin.  After returning from Brazil, she passed the State Board in Psychology becoming a Licensed Psychologist.  She held a position at the Mobile Mental Health Center and served as Administrative Assistant Director for three of the six divisions.  During her tenure at the Mental Health Center, she maintained a part time private practice and was appointed by the Governor of Alabama to serve on the Board of Examiners in Psychology for a period of six years.

Preceding her in death were her Parents-Henry Grady Ashmore and Hazel Irene Miller Ashmore; Sister-Billie Ruth Ashmore.

She is survived by a loving surrogate family who cared about her many years:  The John and Pernie Townley Williams family:  Christine, JoAnn, Jerry, JoAnn Ingle, Donna, John and Donald J.  She is also survived by friends and fellow Christians and fellow professional associates.
