Bette Lou Berry Politziner, age 92, of Owens Cross Roads, AL, passed away quietly on Wednesday morning, July 30, 2025, at her residence. She was born on March 12, 1933 in Oakland, CA.

Bette was preceded in death by her father, Charles Louis Berry Jr., her mother, Eliza Victoria Royle Berry and her husband of 43 years, Irwin. She is survived by her son, Bill Parkes, of Brownsboro, AL.

She was a homemaker, who enjoyed cruising the world with her husband and friends, playing bridge, collecting pottery and artwork as well as interesting and unique people who would be invited to be her friend. Bette had a deep love for all animals but particularly those of the furry four-legged type, dogs. If you did not know her, you would be surprised to learn that her favorite movies were of the horror genre – the more gruesome the better. She was a voracious reader of books (hardbacks only) of all types with particular emphasis on mystery and intrigue. It was no surprise to those who did know Bette that her favorite TV series was, of course, The Walking Dead. Her politics were of the independent – leaning left philosophy, which provided for some interesting (intense and fun) conversations with her conservative friends and family members. Bette enjoyed a well-cooked steak and a glass of white wine (or a Cosmo) with friends and of course something chocolate to finish off the meal. She was beloved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

A private family service and burial was held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, AL.
