Bessie Bell Chandler Wilbanks, 98, of Rogersville went to her home in heaven, Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, after an extended illness. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was a lifelong residence of Rogersville, AL, a member of Oliver Church of Christ for 86 years, and a devout Christian woman, who during her life influenced many with her Christian walk. She was a wonderful mother and will be missed by many.
Visitation will be today, Dec. 12, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow immediately in the chapel with David O’Connell officiating. Burial will be in Wallace Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Wilbanks, Keith Wilbanks, Kenny Garner, Bill Thompson, Phill Crowther, and Chris Garner, and honorary, Allen Goode.
Mrs. Wilbanks was preceded in death by her parents, Denver & Lacy Chandler; husband, Leo Wilbanks; sons, James D. Wilbanks and Marty L. Wilbanks; sister, Geneva McLemore; and brother, Juddie Chandler. She is survived by her children, Joseph Hugh (Barbara) Wilbanks and Leonel White and husband, Bill Gibson; daughters-in-law, Erma Wilbanks and Donna Wilbanks; grandchildren, Ricky (Susie) Wilbanks, Lisa Wilbanks (Phill Crowther), Teresa (Bill) Thompson, DeeDee (Kenny) Garner, Keith Wilbanks, and Brittany McGee; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruby Griffin.
The family thanks the wonderful caregivers, Diane Smith, Carol Tate, Diane Nichols, Tammy and Charity Timbes, Davy Smith, Sarah Teaven, Lisa Poss and help we received from family members.
