Bert Collins Jr. Funeral service for Bert Collins, 86, will be Friday, January 3, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Westside Baptist Church with Bro. Clyde Ledlow and Bro. Gary Peebles officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. His body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Eva Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.

Mr. Collins passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024 at his residence. He was born March 12, 1938, in Cullman County, to Bert Lee Collins, Sr. and Lura Jane Swafford Collins.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents Bert, Sr. and Lura Collins, and his sister: Carolyn Cameron.

Bert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was saved in 1974 after the tornado. He retired from the military after 21 years of service in the United States Air Force.

Bert and Marie moved to Eva, Alabama in 1981 and built B & M Foodmart in 1985 and ran it for 10 years along with Downtown Pizza for 6 years. Aside from these three accomplishments Bert had many more titles to be proud of. He was a United States Veteran, a recruiter for the military, and he organized Veteran’s Park in Eva with Jim Henderson. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church, a former Eva Councilman, and an Alabama Fan. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He was also a Mason and a Shriner.

Words from Tersa Collins: “The things that impacted me as a family member about Bert Collins, is that he was a community leader. When there was a gap in the community including a family in need, Bert filled it generously.”

Survivors include- his Wife – Marie Baxley Collins, his son- Joey Collins (Tresa), his Daughter – Kim Woods, and a Brother – Wyman “Skeeter” Collins.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Collins, Brighton Collins, Bristol Collins, Kent Chambers, Brad Williams, Baxley Collins, Wyman “Skeeter” Collins, Gary Livingston, Dewayne Ryals.
