Bernice Ponder Bolen

Bernice Ponder Bolen, 85, died at Diversicare Nursing Home in Amory after a brief illness. Born in Plantersville on June 10, l937 to the late George Ponder and Roxer Clementine Lee Ponder, she lived most all her life in the Brewer and Temple Grove Communities of south Lee County. She spent over 40 years working for Reed’s Manufacturing and Lucky Star in Nettleton where she was a master seamstress. She attended Temple Grove Baptist Church growing up, also attended Nettleton Pentecostal Church and most recently, Crosspointe in Nettleton. Shewas the widow of Willie Bolen, who died Sept. 5, l989. Bernice loved the outdoors, tending to her flowers and raising a big garden each year.

There will be no service at this time but Holland Funeral Directors will announce a memorial service in the coming days. (662 840 5000)

Bernice is survived by her 3 sons, John “Danny” Bolen of Temple Grove; Dennis Bolen and wife, Dena of Temple Grove and David Bolen and wife, Rebecca of Amory; her grandchildren, Ethan Bolen , Minister Evan Bolen, Miranda Springer, Joshua Wooten and Emma Wooten and her beloved dog, Sam.
