Bernard Harold “Junior” Carnathan, Jr., died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at his home. He was born March 5, 1947, to Bernard Harold and Alma Yielding Carnathan, Sr. He was a 1966 graduate of Mantachie High School where he was a member of the football team. He then married Helen Lewis on June 24, 1966. He retired after 36 years of service from KI International where he was on the bowling team. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and riding wagon trains in his earlier years. He was a member of the Norris Chapel Baptist Church where he served as deacon and taught Sunday school and Bible study. He was a thirty-second degree mason.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 22, at the McNeece – Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Kevin Hatfield and Bro. Michael Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Mantachie Cemetery. McNeece – Morris funeral Home in Mantachie is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Helen Lewis Carnathan, of Mantachie; one son, Bernard Harold Carnathan III (Darlene) of Plantersville; two daughters, Emily Hall (Charles) of Mantachie and Amanda West (Jason) of Hamilton, Ala.; two brothers, his twin Jerry Bernard Carnathan (Pat) of Tishomingo and Jackie Carnathan (Carol) of Mantachie; twelve grandchildren, Samantha Davis (Blaine), Shanna, Stephanie, Joshua, Daniel, Elijah, and Isaiah Carnathan, Destiny Hall, Kristriauna, Kayliegh, and John Alex West, and Shayla Wilson; and one great-grandchild, Brooklyn Davis.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Sidney Hall and Jacob West, and his parents.

Pallbearers will be Shane Wilson, Paul McMillen, Billy Hutcheson, Blake Buchanan, Eugene Patrick, and Randy Cates.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Mantachie High School Class of 1966 and former KI employees.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Friday, February 21, and from noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
