Funeral service for Bernard E. Simpson, age 79, of Somerville, will be Friday, July 5, 2013, 2:00 p.m. at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home, Albertville. The family will receive friends at Shelton Funeral Home, Decatur, today, July 3, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and for two hours prior to service at the funeral home in Albertville. Interment will be in Marshall Memorial Gardens, Albertville.
Mr. Simpson, who died Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born December 26, 1933, in Marshall County, to Thomas Simpson and Mary Ida Bolton Simpson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Thomas “Billy” Simpson, Jr., and Elvie Ray Simpson, and one sister, Mary Bernice Simpson Walker.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Laquitta Sims Simpson of Somerville; one son, Barry L. Simpson of Huntsville; one daughter, Karen Thompson of Priceville; one sister, Francis Simpson Walker of Chattanooga, TN; and three grandsons, Brittley Thompson (Heather Crawford), Brockton Thompson (Denna), and Brayden Thompson; a host of nephews and nieces; and his beloved pet, Annie.
Pallbearers will be Mike Sims, Keith Thompson, Randall Simpson, and Jonathan Cook.
