Benny Lee Gasque, 73, of Leighton, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2024. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 10, 2024, from 11:00-1:00 at The Church Of The Highlands in Florence, 751 County 46, Florence, AL, with the funeral service following at 1:00. Caleb Chambers and Mark Mayfield will officiate the service.
Benny was a native and life-long resident of Colbert County and a 1970 graduate of Colbert County High School. After graduating he worked with his father and brother at Rawhide Erection Company. He was a member of The Church Of The Highlands where he served on the Greeter Team. Benny was an avid Auburn Football fan and enjoyed his Diet Mt. Dew. He was affectionately known as “Pawpaw” to his granddaughters, and they would say “Pawpaw, your my best friend.” Benny was preceded in death by his father Ben “Jabo” Gasque; in-laws, Lloyd and Fran Richards; son-in-law, Drew Brand.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Vickie Gasque; children, Justin Gasque (Amanda), Jason Gasque, and Jennifer Brand; mother, Opal Gasque; brother, Jackie Gasque; grandchildren, Olivia, Lydia, and Maggie Gasque; step grandchildren, Bri Davis and Christopher Davis; several nieces and nephews; and his four-legged friend, “Bud”.
Pallbearers will be Randy Rosser, Andy Perry, Jeff Garrett, Dr. Jeff Anderson, Mike Gilley, and Reggie Goins. Honorary pallbearers will be special ladies: Sherry Rosser, Penny Garrett, Connie Gilley, Deb Anderson, Judy Hayes, Cheri Goins, Kella Collins; and the Greeter Team at The Church Of The Highlands and Tim Hill.
The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Robert Mann, Dr. Anand Mishra, and to the 3rd floor nurses and staff of NAMC.
