Benny Crick, age 93 of Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia passed away on June 11, 2023, at Bailey Manor in Winchester. He was born in Sewanee on September 12, 1929, to the late Charles and Virginia (Barnett) Crick and was the husband of the late Mary (Daugherty) Crick for fifty-four years. Benny was a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant and proudly served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After returning home, he was employed as an office manager at Schwerman Trucking Company until his retirement. He loved and protected his family, and even after retirement always found ways to serve and help others. Benny was of the Episcopalian faith. Benny is survived by his grandchildren, Ben (Jennifer Long) Oglesby, Susan Oglesby Chavez, Laura Oglesby, and Justin Oglesby; great-granddaughter, Harriett Oglesby; sisters, Jean Bean and Dot Davidson; and many special nieces and nephews. Along with his wife and parents, Benny was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Oglesby; son, Kenneth King; sister, Patsy Bradford; brother, Tommy Crick; and special brother-in-law, Clyde Daugherty. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 1:00 pm CST Fairview Memorial Gardens in Huntsville, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Animal Harbor.
