Bennie Mac Poole, 65, of Horton, died Monday, Sept. 15,2014, from injuries sustained in a tractor accident on his farm at Horton.
Born, March 6, 1949 in Arab to Radford and Janice (Fortenberry) Poole, he graduated from J.B. Pennington High School in 1967. He and Priscilla Hunt were married in June of that same year. They had three sons and settled on her family’s farm on Douglas-Hyatt Road in Horton.
Trucking was the main career of his lifetime. He worked for a number of years as an over-the-road driver later hauling gasoline for several companies including Jet Pep in Holly Pond and Moore Oil Company in Center Point. His last job before retiring was driving for Midwest Logistics.
In his free time, he enjoyed listening to gospel music, reminiscing about the past, visiting with friends, and spending time with his seven grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Priscilla; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Scott and Bronwyn (Bynum) Poole of Arab; Jeff and Brandy (Yates) Poole of Sardis City; and Jason Poole of Albertville; former daughter-in-law, Heather (O’Connell) Poole of Guntersville; seven grandchildren, Carson Poole, Kelsey Poole and Zoey Poole, all of Arab; Parker Poole and Payton Poole of Albertville; Amelia Poole and Lola Poole of Sardis City; a sister, Kathy (Poole) and George Harris of Guntersville; a brother-in- law, Ronald and Brenda (Curtis) Hunt of Arab; two nieces, Alisha (Teague) West of Guntersville and Heather Teague of Horton; three nephews, Barry and Adi (Trimble) Hunt of Arab, Chris Hunt of Arab and Brent and Tara (Thornton) Hunt of Owens Cross Roads; an uncle, Lenovis Poole of Arab; and an aunt, Wanda (Fortenberry) Maze of Arab.
He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, the Rev. John Edward and Nell (Rhodes) Hunt.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at McRae Funeral Home in Boaz. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17,2014, at McRae Funeral Home in Boaz with burial following in Douglas Cemetery. Officiants will be the Revs. Glen Elrod and Joel Sims. Music will be provided by Tim Maze. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Parker and Carson Poole as well as Eric Teague, Tim Maze, Ronald Hunt and Tony Nugent.
