Benjamin Earl Webb, 86, of Huntsville, died Monday. Mr. Webb was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Massey Webb, father, William E. Webb, sister, Betty J. Dean and husband, G.B. Dean, infant niece, Cecelia Dean, and niece, Laura Rhame.
Benjamin was born in Calhoun County, AL, and was an Army veteran. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntsville and retired from the Boeing company.
He was a graduate of Anniston High School, received a bachelor’s degree and a commission in the U.S. Army from Jacksonville State University. Military schools included Officers Surface to Air Missile Basic Course, Artillery Officers Career Course, and Command and General Staff College.
His employment experience was with Boeing as well as TVA. Assignments on the Saturn Apollo Program, Lunar Rover vehicle, and Space Station programs were particularly rewarding. He also had the opportunity to assist in the startup of the Englehard Plant in Huntsville. He enjoyed all sports, especially football and golf.
Survivors include nephews, Barry Dean and wife, Betty, Paul Dean, Bob Dean, Chris Dean, and their families, all of Somerville, AL.
A private family service will be held.
