Benjamin “Benny” Franklin Brown, age 77, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will be Saturday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Grady Patrick officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Family will serve as pallbearers.
Benny was a member of Murphy’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and was retired with American Equipment. He was an avid Alabama fan.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Benjamin F. and Pearl Etta Brown, and infant twin sons, Bennett and Barrett Brown.
Survivors are his wife, Carletta Brown; children, Joy Brown Stockton (Jimmy) and Benita Brown Haire (Tim); siblings, Ronnie Brown (Sharon), Jimmy Nell Patrick (Grady), and Dot Brown Pettus (Robert); grandchildren, Bo Stockton, Meghan Lesser (Matt), Chad Haire (Christy), Christian Haire (John), and Tera Ruff; and great-grandchildren, Emily, James, Grey, Matthew, Brendan, Sadie, Cohen, and Bree.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s research.
