Funeral services for Mr. Ben F. Jowers, age 90, are scheduled for 1 PM, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home with Gary Sorrells officiating. Interment will follow in Jowers Cemetery. Mr. Jowers passed away early Monday at his home in Lexington. He was born March 25, 1925 in Henderson County to the late Benjamin Franklin Jowers and Myrtle Hayes Jowers. Mr. Jowers received his Associates Degree from U. T. Martin and was a WWII and Korean Veteran. He served 4 years in the U. S. Marines, taught school from 1946-1948, served in the U. S. Air Force for 3 years, and worked as a Salesman at Turner Dairy for 38 years. He was a member of Broad Street Church of Christ and an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan. Mr. Jowers was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Betty Lorene Jowers and one son, Michael Jowers. Survivors include his son, Donald “Jocko” Jowers (Vicki) of Lexington; two daughters, Pat Barker (Don) of Lexington and Betty Lowrey (Mel) of Little Rock, AR; one sister, Lizzie Jowers of Lexington; five grandchildren, Janyth Barker Grady (Dr. Tim), Christy Barker Terry (Jim), Jenny Jowers, Tara Jowers, and Chelsi Jowers; ten great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. The family requests in lieu of flowers donation be sent to Everett C. Horn Public Library.
