Be Ready Camp wins FEMA award

bereadycamplogoMONTGOMERY— Be Ready Camp, a partnership between The Governor’s Officer of Faith-Based and Volunteer Service (Serve Alabama), the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville and Madison County EMA, has received one of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) 2015 Individual and Community Preparedness Awards. Be Ready Camp was awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Youth Preparedness Award for it’s innovative contributions that have made the community safer and better pre-pared.
Be Ready Camp started in 2006. Over the last 9 years, more than 1000 sixth graders from across the state have attended Be Ready Camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center. Be Ready Camp is designed to teach the students about being prepared for and how to respond to a disaster.
Serve Alabama will accept the award in Washington D.C. on September 8, 2015.
