barrieBarrie Arlin Witte departed from this life on March 14, 2015, at Shoals Hospital in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. He was born April 17, 1943, in Medford Oregon. He served in the United States Merchant Marines. He was a member of Hatton Baptist Church. He retired in 2002 from TVA. He loved to build and fly model airplanes, paint/draw, and attend car-racing events. Barrie was very loved, and will be greatly missed by everyone his life touched.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Monday March 16, 2015, 2015, at Colbert Memorial Chapel, with memorial services at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Brother Jim Warren and Brother Charlie James will officiate. Entombment will be at Colbert Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Mr. Witte was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Witte, his parents, Gustave Lewis Witte and Mary Elizabeth Witte, and brother, Lou Allen Witte.
Survivors include his brother, Doug Witte; sister-in law, Rosemary Witte, Sandra Thompson, Lilly Nichols (Willard), Nettie Joiner; brother-in law, Bobby Trousdale (Martha); nephews, Lynn Robbins (Ruby), Jason Trousdale (Shannon), Jeremy Trousdale, Anthony Joiner (Kim), Jeffery Witte, Michael Witte; nieces, Gail South (Todd), Melissa Montgomery (Robert), Kristi Burklow (Matt), Apirl Letson (Anthony), Tammie Lewis; great-nieces and nephews, Holly and Michael Robbins, Whitney Nichols, Marissa and Crystal Montgomery, Trent and Nichols South, Zoe and Ashley Trousdale, Lyndsey, Kaitlynn, Audrey, Hailey, Emma, and Parker Joiner, Kylie Jo Letson, Olivia and Bradley Lewis; great-great-nieces and nephews, Carsyn and Gracie Montgomery, Bradley Purser, Braxton Sivley, and Brenna Hayes; and a host of cousins, church family, co-workers, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Peebles, Johnny Pittman, Larry Pullen, Gary Ledlow, Ken Arnold, and Wayne Flanagan. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Thompson, Paul Johnson, Fred Simmons, Pat Patterson, David Myers, Wayne Evans., Brother Ted Vafeas, and Johnny Balentine.
The family would like to thank the staff of Shoals ICU Hospital, especially the nurses Christy and Angela for their attention, compassion, and dedication (above and beyond their call). Also, a special thanks are extended to Dr. Terrence Hart for excellent care and dedication in his profession.
