Barbara Sims Green, age 85, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025, at Marshall Manor Nursing Home, surrounded by her husband and children.
Barbara was born on August 23, 1940, to the late Oscar and Louise Camp Sims. In 1959, she married the love of her life, Sam Green, and together they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with four children: Mickey Green, Teresa McClendon, Kim Green Coe, and Dewayne Green (Roxann).
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
She is survived by her loving husband, Sam; her four children; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren — Michael Green (Roxanne), Crimson Bearden, Savannah McClendon, Raven Cryar (Adam), Rachel Wilson (Jordan), John Tyler Green (Bailey), Dee Green, Cole Green, and Camp Green — were the joy of her life. Barbara was also blessed with great-grandchildren Marleigh, Monroe, Brylee, Tallyn, Kyndle, Emersyn, Ledger, Deija, Finley, and Wynne.
Barbara’s life was defined by her unwavering love and dedication to her family. She created a warm and welcoming home where love, laughter, and strong values were always present. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and the kindness she extended to everyone around her. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends at Carr Funeral Home on Saturday, October 11, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., and again on Sunday from 12:00–2:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow immediately at Crestview Cemetery in Guntersville.
Pallbearers will be Michael Green, John Tyler Green, Dee Green, Cole Green, Camp Green, Adam Cryar, and Jordan Wilson.
The honorary pallbearer will be Ledger Cryar.
