Barbara Louise “Bootsie” (Mann) Moore, age 90, died on December 5, 2024, at home in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. Bootsie was born in 1934 in Bartow, Florida. Her parents were the late George William “Buck” Mann, Jr. and the late Frances Ellen Gilchrist Mann.
Bootsie grew up in Bartow, Polk County, Florida where her ancestors have lived since 1865. She graduated from Summerlin Institute in 1952, where she was involved in many activities. After briefly attending the University of Florida, she married Donald Talmadge Moore, who was serving in the U.S. Navy, in 1952.
During her lifetime, Bootsie lived in Bartow, Jacksonville, Gainesville, Orlando, and Altamonte Springs, Florida; Bellevue, Washington; Arlington, Texas; Huntsville, Alabama, and Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.
Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her husband and infant son, Charles William Moore. Bootsie is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Anne Moore Clem of Hermitage, Tennessee; brothers, James Douglas (Dabney) Mann of Franklin, Tennessee and George William (Joan) Mann III of Polk City, Florida; stepmother, Peggy Mann of Winter Haven, Florida; sister-in-law, Julie Moore of Gainesville, Florida; sister-in-law, Bonnie Moore of Liberty, Missouri; 3 nephews; 4 nieces; and many other relatives.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2024. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville, Alabama. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the funeral home chapel. A private interment will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville.
