Barbara Joe Tyler FeemsterBarbara Joe Feemster of Union Grove quietly passed away surrounded by her family on December 27, 2025, at Huntsville Hospital Hospice Family Care. Her death came one day past her 81st birthday.
Born on December 26, 1944, in the Pine Ridge community of Morgan County, Barbara was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist #2 and touched the lives of others with her steward heart, applying scripture to her daily life and interactions.
Barbara attended Midway Middle and graduated from Arab High School in 1963. She held several jobs within the Arab area over the years but her most rewarding was being a mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, sharing stories from the past and giving guidance for the present.
Barbara was proceeded in death by her father, Herman Tyler; mother, Mary Tyler Allen; and brother, Barry “Sonny” Tyler.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, David Feemster. Her children: Sharon (Eddie) Massengill, Larry J. Black, Julie (TJ) Pritchett. Her granddaughters: Courtney Nix, Morgan (Nick) Jordan, Ashley (Daniel) Wesley, Samantha (Nathan) Davenport. Her great granddaughters: Maddie Grace Wesley and Hayden Wesley, Lily Davenport. Special family friend Lisa Russ and a host of nieces and nephews.
Barbara’s legacy will carry on forever through the many lives she touched through her acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us.
Visitation will be held at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel on Friday, January 2, 2026 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM with the funeral service to follow. There will not be a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family request that a donation be made in Barbara’s honor to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
