Barbara Jean Tanner Kasmeier – Obituary

Barbara Jean Tanner Kasmeier, 79, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lillian Tanner; her brother, Howard Tanner; and sisters, Virginia Morgan, RaeDean Berryman, and Ann Donaldson.
Barbara was born and raised on Riverton Rose Trail in Cherokee, Alabama. She was a graduate of Cherokee High School and Larimore Business College. In 1960, she married Jim Kasmeier, of St. Florian, at St. Michael Catholic Church. She and Jim lived in Tuscumbia, Alabama for many years until they returned to St. Florian in 2007 to be near family.
Barbara was a loyal volunteer for the town of St. Florian and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She was known for her love of cooking and sharing meals with family and friends. She will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family, friends, and community.
Family was Barbara’s greatest joy in life. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James J. Kasmeier; her son, Ed Kasmeier (Beth); her daughter, Lesia Kasmeier Albright (Andrew); granddaughters, Katherine Albright and Madeline Albright; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be today from 9:30-11 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in St. Florian, Alabama. A funeral mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. Pallbearers are Bart Bodkin, Glen Bramlett, Mike Hellums, John T. Kasmeier, Kevin Kasmeier, and Ralph Peters.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Joseph School Trust Foundation, 115 Plum Street, Florence, AL 35630.
