Barbara Jean Moore Alexander – Obituary

 Barbara Jean Moore Alexander, 70, stepped into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday morning after a battle with cancer. Born in Lee County on May 30, l948 to the late James and Vivian Louise Moore Morton, Barbara was a lifelong Lee Countian and a 1968 graduate of Tupelo High School. She spent over 41 years as a valued and loyal employee of Central Services Association, retiring in 2014 as a clerical assistant and computer operator. Barbara took seriously her role as a wife, mother and grandmother and always loved
children. She was an active and faithful member of the Barnes Crossing Baptist Church. Her service to her Lord was all things children including Vacation Bible School, teacher and children’s song leader. Barbara loved flowers including growing and arranging them. She was a doting grandmother to her only grandchild, 2 year old Mia who named her Grammy.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 1 PM Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with her special pastors, Bro. Jackie Spencer and Bro. Tim Tutor officiating. Private burial will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park. Visitation is from 5 PM-8PM tonight (Thurs) and from 11 AM-service time on Friday, all at Holland-Tupelo Chapel which is honored to be serving their friends.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ray Alexander, to whom she married July 2, 1972; her daughter, Ginger Alexander McCullough and husband, John of Belden; her son, David Alexander of Tupelo; her only granddaughter, Mia McCullough of Belden. 2 siblings, Debbie Martin of Tupelo and Jerry Rhudy (Pat) of Navarro Beach, Florida; 2 sisters in law: Madie Morton and Brenda Alexander both of Tupelo; several cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends including her Church family and her associates at CSA. Pallbearers will be Wes Morton, Kelly Alexander, Jordan Alexander, Samuel Anzuini, Marty Smith and Gary Smith. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 252 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN 38105 or to American Cancer Society of Mississippi, 1380 Livingston Lane, Jackson, MS. 39213.
