Logo Icon Barbara Jean Hanvey, age 91, of Iron City, TN peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 31,1934, she was the daughter of the late Elvie and Beulah Hanback. Barbara lived a long, beautiful life anchored firmly in her faith, leaving behind a legacy of grace, prayer, and unconditional love. As a devoted follower of Christ, she spent her 91 years exemplifying the virtues of a virtuous woman, modeling her life after the teachings of the Scripture. For 38 years, Barbara was an active and faithful member of Christian Faith Church in Florence, Alabama.
Her faith was not just a Sunday routine; it was the foundation of everything she did. Her family was her greatest earthly joy, and she nurtured them with a deep, spiritual devotion. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will forever cherish the memory of her reading the Bible, and covering them in daily prayer.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 37 years, Alfred Hanvey, and herbrothers, Doyle, Don, Billy, Carl and Bobby Hanback. Also, preceded in death are her children Kevin Hanvey, Linda Cook husband Tony Cook whom passed in 2009, Kenny Hanvey and Sherry Marks, and her grandchildren Ronnie Christopher Holt, Channing Hanvey, Kody Hanvey, and two great grand children, Blaze Kelly and Dolly Marks.

She is survived by her children Brenda Williamson, Gary (Rhonda) Hanvey, Dennis (Sherry) Hanvey, Donna Dillinger and Angie Hanvey, son in law Robert Marks, also Barbara cherished her 23 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

While our hearts are heavy with her absence, we rejoice in the absolute assurance that she has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can rejoice at the days to come. Shespeaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue … Her children arise andcall her blessed.” – Proverbs 31:25-26, 28

A celebration of her life and homegoing will be held on October 29, 2026 at 1200 noon at Christian Faith Church located at 670 County Road 257 Florence, Alabama 35633. The service will be officiated by Pastor Ronnie McKissack and Nephew Tim Hanback.
