Barbara Jean “BJ” Robinson, of Huntsville, AL, passed away on December 15, 2025, after a brief illness. A native of Houston, TX, BJ called Huntsville her home for almost 60 years.
She was a graduate of the University of North Alabama and served as an Army officer for 11 years, leaving service with the rank of Captain. Her military specialty was Logistics/Maintenance Management. A Vietnam-Era veteran, she earned the National Defense Service Medal and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. Following military service, BJ became a civilian contractor working in the same field for a number of companies in the Huntsville area. She retired in 2009, and dedicated her time supporting various civic activities, including serving as the coordinator of her neighborhood Community Watch for a number of years. She found time to grow a small but productive garden every year and her tasty tomatoes will never be forgotten, nor will her famous fudge and zucchini bread.
BJ was preceded in death by her father, Robert, and mother, Faye, and her brother, David. She is survived by her nieces, Erin Stewart (David), Jessica Galimore (Justin), and Kelly Thomas (Mitch), her beloved cats, and a host of friends.
BJ’s ashes will be interred beside her mother in Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date. At her request, no formal service is planned.
