Barbara Hornsby Williams Barbara Hornsby Williams, 81, of Guntersville, AL passed away on Saturday, December 5th, 2020 shortly after 3:00 PM at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice in Albertville, AL. She was surrounded by her loved ones in prayer and had the comfort of her husband Joe Williams, daughter Teresa Brown, son-in-law Andrew Brown and niece Connie Abbott with her as she passed.
Barbara was born on November 13, 1939 in Guntersville, AL., the daughter of Verdice B and Willie J Spradlin Hornsby. She was a graduate of Marshall County High School, class of 1958 where she met her husband, Joe Taylor Williams. They married on July 21, 1961 and spent 59 wonderful, loving years together having one daughter and three grandchildren. She called Guntersville her home for most of her adult life. During her lifetime, she worked as a dental hygienist and later worked in the Redstone Arsenal doing clerical work before retiring to be a homemaker and bookkeeper for her family. She enjoyed gardening, listening to music (especially Elvis), reading and being with friends and family. She was a beloved cook by her husband, daughter and her three “grandbabies” as she called them.
Barbara was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. She was devoted to reading her Bible and loved listening to and sharing worship music with her loved ones.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Verdice B Hornsby; her mother, Willie J Spradlin Hornsby; her sisters, Hilda James and Stella Stansell.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Joe Taylor Williams; her daughter, Teresa (Andrew) Brown; her granddaughter, Anna Catherine Brown; her two grandsons, William Taylor Brown and Wesley Benjamin Brown; her brother and sister in law, Charles and Edna Hornsby and their children; her niece, Cconnie James Abbott; her nephew, Terry Beam and her niece, Diane (Robert) Keel.
Carr Funeral Home will be assisting and making arrangements for her burial. Loved ones are welcome to join the family at a graveside service and burial at Union Grove First Baptist Church Cemetery on December 10, 2020 at 2:00 PM. Brandon Abbott will be officiating. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing are recommended.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice in Albertville, AL. in her memory.
