Barbara Gail Kerins, 84, a resident of the Cedar Cove Community, East of Hartselle, AL, Mrs. Kerins passed away on June 28, 2019. The Funeral Service will be on Monday, July  1, 2019 at 12:00 PM with visitation from  10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Bro. Anthony Patterson, From Gum Springs Baptist Church will be officiating under the direction of Peck Funeral Home. A brief graveside will follow at Mt. Tabor Methodist Cemetery.

Barbara was born on January 25, 1935 in Hartselle to Robert D. and Ethyl M. Ward and attended Falkville High School. In 1961, she attended Durham College in El Paso, Tx, Receiving certificates in speedwriting and typing. She was certified in machine shorthand by Jefferson State Junior College in 1973. Her career spanned several administrative assistant positions before she eventually founded, in 1975, North Alabama Reporting Service, a Decatur legal stenography firm that she eventually sold and is still in business today.

In 1950, she married Phillip G, Woods and, after his passing in 1998, remarried to James B, Kerins in 2004, who passed away in 2014.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Ethel Ward, a sister: Bobbie Jean Ward, a brother: Russell Ward, and a sister Louise Brewer.

Surviving siblings include Kenneth Wayne Ward, wife Faye; and June Wallace, husband Dwain. Barbara is also survived by her two children and their spouses, Terri J. Womack, Husband Tom Womack; and Phillip (Steven) Woods, wife Kristi Woods. Her step-children include Patsy and Rick Pilgreen and Jackie and Mike Frugoli. Their grandchildren: Nicolette L. Agan, Husband James; Gabbrielle M. Parker, husband Chris ; Amanda A. Zoller, husband Jarred; Jaqualyn A Bean, husband Paul; Thomas (Ryan) Womack, Holly E. Clausing, Samuel  (Josh) Womack, Wife Ana; and 14 great grandchildren.

Barbara Loved to live in the farming community of Cedar Cove. Her Fondest wish was a joyful remembrance of her life and her family.
