Barbara Elizabeth McKennon Dunn Brooks – Obituary

Barbara Elizabeth McKennon Dunn Brooks, 68, employee of Maury Regional Home Health and resident of Pleasant Drive, died Friday, March 30, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Elsey officiating. Burial will follow in McClain Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born October 22, 1949 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Otey Gray McKennon and the late Rosie Mae Church McKennon. She was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and loved reading, playing yahtzee and scratch offs. Mrs. Brooks enjoyed manicures, pedicures, and traveling to Gatlinburg with her family. She was of Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Lewis Brooks of Columbia; son, Daniel (Ashley) Dunn of Columbia; step daughters, Tammy Brooks of Columbia; Katrina Brooks of Columbia; grandchildren, Johnny Wayne Brooks; Tiffany Cornelius; Taylor Dunn; Zachery Dunn; Brandi Dunn; Whitney Jackett; Erin Chaney; Rebecca Cartwright; and Ivory Gasca; great grandchildren, Grayson Chaney; Ryleigh Dunn; Jacob Oldham; Hayley Oldham; Anslee Cornelius; Trinity Brooks; and Julian Brooks; sister, Mildred McKennon Williams of Columbia; brothers, Collin (Judy) McKennon of Columbia; and J.S. (Martha Carol) McKennon of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheryl Denise Stewart; sisters, Evelyn Cook; and Lucille Lanius; and brothers, Dudley McKennon; Richard McKennon; and Robert McKennon.

Active pallbearers will be Daniel Dunn, Taylor Dunn, Zachery Dunn, Johnny Wayne Brooks, Steven Beard, and Justin McKennon. Honorary pallbearers include Maury Regional Home Health Girls.
