Barbara Ann Tucker Cates, age 80 of Lynchburg, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born on January 17, 1940 in Tullahoma to the late Carl Raymond Tucker Sr. and Cora Irene Cunningham Tucker. She was employed for over 35 years at Jack Daniels where she worked as an inspector before her retirement in 2000. In her free time she loved to sew, spend time with her family, and watch Blue Bloods and the Madea movies. Barbara was an incredible baker that loved to share her skill with her loved ones by making birthday cakes for their birthdays. She was a loving and caring person with a heart of gold, but was also outspoken and strong minded. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, her husband, Wilford “Bud” Cates (whom just passed on August 13, 2020); and sisters, Wilma Jean Tucker and Frances Jacquline “Jackie” Hogan. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie (Bryan) Passwaters of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Jamie (Kristy) Cates of Tullahoma whom they raised, Derrick (Rachel) Gentry of Murfreesboro, Diana (Tamra) Gentry of Winchester; brothers, Ralph (Ruby Jo) Tucker and Carl (Dorothy) Tucker Jr. both of Tullahoma; sister, Loeda (Marvin) Burton of Tullahoma; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday September 3, 2020 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, with the funeral service following at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor R.C. Ford officiating.
