Barbara Ann Manley, age 53, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 in Jackson. She was born September 17, 1970 in Jackson to Beverly Powers Manley and the late Donald “Jack” Manley. She was employed with Jackson State Community College, working there 30 years as a Professor in the Math Department. As instructor, she cared deeply for each student. She was a member of New Bethel Church, an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan, and a former dance instructor during her high school years. One of her favorite things to do was watching Jordan play baseball. She was a gentle, caring, and compassionate soul, and all the underlined Scriptures and notes in her Bible attested to her faith in God and His Word.
Survivors include her mother, Beverly Powers Manley; one sister, Karla Manley; one brother, Jordan Bates; one Uncle, Larry Joe Manley; One Aunt, Lillie Manley; and cousins, Jeffrey Manley (Lindsay), Ricky Paul Duke, and Kristina Duke. She was preceded in death by her dad, Jack Manley; her uncle (her dad’s twin brother), Jerry Manley; her aunt, Pam Duke; cousin, Kristie Duke; and grandparents, Paul Powers, Bonnie Powers, Howard “Chuck” Manley, and Ruth Manley.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 AM, Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at New Bethel Church. Interment will follow in New Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at New Bethel Church on Monday, 5-8 PM and on Tuesday, 9 – 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to St. Jude or charity of your choice.
