Barbara Ann Cobb Drake Barbara Ann Cobb Drake, 76, of Hazel Green passed away on January 13th, 2025. She was born on May 1st, 1948.

Barbara was born and raised in Owens Cross Roads, graduating from New Hope High School. After marrying Jerry, the love of her life, she moved to Hazel Green where she spent the remainder of her years. She earned her business/logistics degree from Athens State and spent most of her career working on Redstone Arsenal with the Black Hawk Missile system. She believed in community involvement as she coached softball, volunteered in the school clinic, worked in concession stands, served as an officer in the PTA, was a poll worker, donated gallons and gallons of blood, donated supplies to local schools and outreach centers, hosted deployed military servicemen for the holidays, sponsored angels, and so much more. She loved to travel with her friends and to her grandchildren’s sporting events, no matter when or where they were. She was always up for travel, road trips, ball games, driving a farm truck to the field, shopping, taking her grands to appointments, and lending an ear. She loved Jesus, family, friends, and being a farmer’s wife. She was the greatest Nana and loved every minute of it. She was a member of Plainview Church of Christ and attended faithfully while she was able.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Drake, infant son Danny Wayne Drake, parents Roy and OraDell Cobb, and sister Mary Jane McGaha.

Her surviving family include her daughter Suzanne (Clay) Giles; her son Brad (Christy) Drake; her grandchildren Kirsten (James) Block, Callie Giles, Nathan Giles, Colton Drake, and Carley Drake; her great grandchildren Caroline, Sophie, and Hallie; and her sisters Sandra (Bobby) Self and Lisa (Darryl) Townsend.

The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Alabama, Dobie, Helen, Josie, Mandi, Rachel, and Sue for caring for and loving our sweet mother. She was the best mother anyone could have and we appreciate the care and love you helped us pour into her.

To honor her memory donations can be made to Hospice of Alabama or The Alzheimer’s Association.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16th, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place the following day, Friday, January 17th, at 11:00 AM, with the burial taking place Green Valley Cemetery.
