FLORENCE-With monies raised in their September Bake Sale, Administrators of Chloe’s Fund were able to assist in the  medical care of 20+ Shelter animals. Once again, Chloe’s Fund is reaching out to the public to help replenish monies spent in medical care. Friday, November 3 and Saturday, November 4 Bake Sales will be held to benefit Chloe’s Fund; the Fund was established to help sick and injured animals at the Florence-Lauderdale Animal Shelter. The tasty treats will be available 8am-3pm on Friday, November 3 at the Florence-Lauderdale Government Building, located at 102 S. Court Street (building with time and temperature on top) in downtown Florence. On Saturday, November 4, the Bake Sale will move to the Florence-Lauderdale Animal Shelter and be held from 10am-2pm. The Shelter is located at 702 E. College Street in Florence.

Chloe’s Fund was started in March of 2017 after Shelter volunteers, Glen and Debby Nelson lost their beloved dog of 16 years, Chloe. After Chloe’s passing, Debby set out on a mission to help as many sick and injured Florence-Lauderdale Animal Shelter animals as possible. In five short months, Chloe’s Fund has already vetted countless number of cats and dogs suffering from various illnesses and in need of medical attention and medication. Prior to Chloe’s Fund, the Florence Lauderdale Animal Shelter could not treat every unwell cat or dog that entered its doors. Their only hope was the possibility of a rescue organization stepping up and financing the needed veterinary care. For those animals with costly medical bills predicted and no rescue hero in sight, our dedicated shelter employees were faced with heartbreaking decisions; these decisions never get easier and no one ever willingly wants to make them. Chloe’s Fund has helped to save the lives of many animals.
