MUSCLE SHOALS— Shoals Plastic Surgery has initiated a support group specifically designed for women who have breast cancer and are seeking options for reconstructive surgery or women who have had reconstructive surgery.
The B.R.A.T. Pack, or Breast Reconstruction Awareness Talks Pack, has monthly meetings regarding awareness and education for breast reconstruction options. The Pack meets the third Thursday of each month in Suite 300 of the Medical Office Building adjacent to Shoals Hospital on Avalon Avenue in Muscle Shoals.
“The purpose of the group is to educate and help these women feel as though they aren’t alone as they go through this process,” said
Whitney McCartt, an RN with Shoals Plastic Surgery and also the support group organizer. “We know that one in eight women will
suffer from breast cancer, and a portion of them will need or want reconstructive surgery. This offers an opportunity for these women to share their experiences with others undergoing the same or similar procedures.”
Shoals Plastic Surgery is under the physician direction of Dr. Russ Jennings. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He specializes in breast reconstruction among many other plastic/reconstructive procedures.
Join us for the next support group meeting Thursday, March 20, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. If you have questions or need more information, call Whitney at (256) 386-1450.
