Avis Drusilla “Doodie” Murphree, age 81, of Tuscumbia, passed away Nov. 9, 2012.
Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Funeral services to begin at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow at Tuscumbia Oakwood Cemetery. Brother Tommy Jones officiating.
She was preceded in death by parents, Henry Oscar Murphree and Ethel Rae Bishop Murphree; brothers, Morris Alden and Athel Walton Murphree; sister, Mavis Kathleen Reid.
Survivors include her brothers, Lowell Gene and Roger Dennis Murphree; nieces, Debbie Murphree Goss, Marcia Sorrell, Beverly Hollander and Camilla Murphree; nephews, Eddie, Glenn and Mike Murphree; great niece, Doodie’s pride and joy, Montana Skye Goss; numerous great-nieces and newphews and one great-great niece.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Murphree was a member of First Methodist Church of Tuscumbia, a member of BellSouth Pioneers, retired from BellSouth after 25 plus years of loyal service. A special thanks to Hospice of the Shoals for the love and care given to our dear Aunt Doodie.
