Ms. Avis Allene Thomas, of Arab, Alabama passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, at the age of 88. Allene was born May 17, 1937 in Union Grove, Al to James and Maudie Pannell Bolding.
Allene and her husband, D.C., owned Thomas Jewelers on Main Street in Arab. She later owned Allene’s Beauty Shop, which she ran out of her home for many years. Allene loved to be outside working in her flowers and yard. She had a love for reading books and the Bible but her greatest love was her family. She attended Oleander Global Methodist Church in Union Grove.
Allene is proceeded in death by her husband of 36 years, D.C. Thomas; her parents, James Bolding and Maudie Bolding; her sister, Dorothy Dunn; her brothers, James “Junior” Bolding, William Bolding, Johnnie Bolding, Edward “Buddy” Singleton.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Thomas Kennedy (Jim) of Arab; granddaughter, Sierra Kennedy of East Providence RI; sisters, Laverne Crow of Union Grove, Alice Walls of Lacey’s Spring; sister-in-law Martha Bolding of Union Grove, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Allene will be 2:00pm Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Brother Gary McRae will officiate. Burial will be in Oleander Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Bolding, Timmy Bolding, Randy Cryer, Ricky Garrett, Tim Holaday, Jim Kennedy, David Walls, and Tim Wright. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
