Audrey Inez Hefner McGarity – Obituary

AudreyAudrey Inez Hefner McGarity departed this life on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at the age of 77 years, 2 months, 28 days.

She was born in McNairy County, Tennessee on September 15, 1936, the daughter of the late James Herbert and Arlene Ruby Pitts Holland. Audrey built cars for General Motors, she was also a Mary Kay representative in Hardin County. She enjoyed making homemade crafts and was a wonderful homemaker.

Audrey had lived in St. Louis, Missouri for 27 years after she married her first husband, Ruel McGarity, Jr. She then moved back to her hometown of Milledgeville and married Eldred Allen Hefner. She was a member of Milledgeville Methodist Church, where her father once served as minister.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Ann Freshwater O’Fallen of Missouri, Treasa Ann McGarity of Troy, Illinois, and Sherry Lee McGarity of Sardis, Tennessee; grandchildren, Amanda Anglin, Laura B. Holt, Samuel Allen, Daniel A. Doyle, Desiree Freshwater, and Lyla Freshwater; great-grandchildren, Mary Beth Whitley, Acaya Marie Whitley, Daryle Steven Holt, David A. Doyle, Makala, and Jeffrey; a brother, Ronnie Holland of Florence, Alabama.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Holland; god parents, Allan and Edra Grooms.
