Audra Mae Pickard Pugh – Obituary

Audra Mae Pickard Pugh, 92, of Drummonds, TN., formerly of Florence passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Murray Southwell officiating. A private burial is planned at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Pugh was born on October 2, 1921 in Winston County to Mattie and Walter Houston Pickard. She taught school from 1942 to 1982, retiring as librarian at Weeden Elementary School in Florence. She was a long-time member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Florence. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.L. Pugh.

Survivors include her daughter, Martha P. Stephens (Glenn) of Florence; sons, Al Pugh (Wanda) of Hampton, GA and Gwyn Pugh (Rebecca) of Drummonds, TN; sister, Sue Hall of Birmingham; grandchildren, Dawn S. Mardis and Kimberly S. Holt of Birmingham, Anna L. Stephens of Florence, Blake Pugh (Erin) of Hampton, GA, Carmen P. McKenzie (Monte) of Hawkinsville, GA, Khristi Bierbrodt (Justin) of Millington, TN, and Karyn, Daniel, Michael and John Pugh of Drummonds, TN; and great-grandchildren, Austin Stanley and Carson Pugh of Hampton, and Madalyn and Claire McKenzie of Hawkinsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Free Will Baptist Church of Florence.
