Audie Mescal Vickers Crabb, 92, of Muscle Shoals died May 29, 2014. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 3:00 Sunday, June 1 at Colbert Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 in the Chapel.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years Leo Martin Crabb.
Survivors include son, Colonel James Crabb (USAF Ret.) and wife Leary of Montgomery; daughters, Vicky Keys of Florence, Teena Noles and husband Allen of Muscle Shoals; sister Ethelene Vickers Maier of Exeter, CA. Grandchildren James Crabb, Jr. of Rota, Spain, Richard Crabb of South Boston, VA, Delisa Frierson (Tem) of Powder Springs, GA, Lisa Keys Mathews (Tom) of Florence, Leslie Keys of Tuscumbia, Matthew Noles (Jamie) Athens, and Jenny Strickland (Hayden) Muscle Shoals; 13 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Noles, Tom Mathews, Alex Mathews, Hayden Strickland, Richard Crabb, Tem Frierson, and Dan Beene.
Mrs. Crabb was manager of Highland Park School cafeteria for 12 years and was a substitute teacher for the Muscle Shoals School system. She and her husband visited every state and Canada during 35 years of travel.
She had a lifetime passion for design and sewing for her children and grandchildren. At age 90, she was sewing aprons for family and friends and dresses for children in Guatemala. Audie Mescal boutique was inspired by her sense of fashion and style. She continued to garden until her death.
Mrs. Crabb was a member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church.
