Aubreita Jean Shanes, age 88, a longtime resident of Hendersonville, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She loved sewing, crafting, quilting, loved to dance, loved to hunt in her younger years and just loved life in general.

Mrs. Shanes was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harold Shanes; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa “Cricket” and Alan Burroughs; brothers, Ronald K. Waggoner and Donald Ray Waggoner; and a great grandson, Matthew Taylor.

She is survived by her sons, Jerry (Tammy) Shanes and Joel (Dawn) Shanes; daughters, Brenda (Johnny) Allen and Teresa (James) Wilson; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and a sister, Carrie (Jerry) Morris.

The family will receive friends from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00pm Monday, July 12, 2021 in the funeral home chapel with David Swanger officiating. Burial will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will her grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers are the staff and residents of The Waters of Gallatin.
