ATHENS-The Athens Police have arrested the same suspect wanted in the ATM robberies for stealing camera equipment from High Cotton Arts on Wednesday June 8:
“Yesterday the police department was notified of a burglary at High Cotton Arts on East Washington Street. Taken in the burglary was a camera bag, 2 Olympus camera bodies, 2 camera lens, 4 data cards, 2 camera bags and a flash light. When Investigator Jonathan Caldwell responded and was told about the property that had been taken he realized the property that was taken had been recovered by Sgt. Johnny Campbell a couple days earlier. The stolen property was inside the vehicle David Roy Mitchell had when he was arrested earlier in the week for trying to break into ATM’s and theft of a vehicle. Campbell obtained a warrant for Mitchell and was arrested late yesterday afternoon on the warrant for burglary 3rd degree. Mitchell was booked at the police department and transferred back to the county jail.”
