Athens Woman Dies From Injuries Received In Single-Vehicle Crash

ATHENS-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency rports a single0vehicle accident near Athens has taken the life of one person:

“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 6:28 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, has claimed the life of an Athens woman.

Sharon S. Bailey, 61, was fatally injured when the 2024 Nissan Altima that she was driving left the roadway, struck a ditch and then a tree. Bailey was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on U.S. 72 near Sod Road, approximately two miles west of Athens, in Limestone County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
